Lecture: NYC’s Low-Carbon Diet

Posted July 15th by caroline in DC, National Building Museum, Washington, city planning, events, lecture

nbm_fullsizeSponsored by the US Department of Energy, a free noontime lecture at the National Building Museum explores how the pulsing metropolis of New York City can possibly be considered a green giant. Happening Thursday July 16, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

I have attended several lectures at the NBM and they are always stimulating and entertaining. Not to mention, the setting in the museum’s hall is stunning with massive granite corinthian columns rising to the ceiling (fun fact: they are among the highest in the world!). The building originates from the late 19th Century, originally intended as the HQ of the US Pension Bureau.

Lecture: New York City’s Low-Carbon Diet: Addressing Climate Change through Building Policy, July 16, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., free!

From the website:

Laurie Kerr, senior policy advisor at New York City’s Office of Long-term Planning and Sustainability, looks at the range of policies being developed to spark widespread efficiency gains in the complex building sector of New York City.”
