July 14: Bastille Day!!!
Posted July 13th by caroline in DC, French culture, Language, Washington, events, festival, food, happy hour, restaurants, wineCelebrate the storming of the Bastille in 1789 with DC’s many francophiles. Bars, cafes and restaurants are opening their doors to revellers with generous offerings on food and drink.
To start off, you may want to head to L’Enfant Restaurant for the spectacular annual French Maid Relay Race. The starting gun goes off at 8 p.m., but you should get there at 5 p.m. to be sure to get a spot in the crowd. There will also be music and other entertainment.
Elsewhere in Adam’s Morgan, the Napoleon Bistro Lounge will be offering free champagne if, and only if, you wear your red, white AND blue! There will also be buy-one-get-one free appy specials. They take French patriotism very seriously there. And you can head next door to the Cafe Bonaparte for half-price bottles of wine.
Then, to top off the night, head down to Dupont Circle’s Bistrot du Coin where they will clear the tables away after dinner service closes to let the partying continue.
