Cheap date Tuesday

When I was growing up, tickets were half off at the movie theater. While that may not still be the case, dinner and a movie is still a nice way to relax. And can be done somewhat on the cheap.
Bistrot Lepic in Georgetown offers free wine tastings in their upstairs wine bar (replete with rattan couches and cozy throw pillows). If you stick around for dinner (hey, big spender!), bottles of wine are also 20% off. The decor may be Asian-inspired, but the food is classic French and really divine. This is my favorite little place to eat in DC and I wish I could keep it all to myself. Tough luck for me because the bistro has already been given glowing reviews in everything from The Washington Post to Bon Appetit.
Food, Inc. is showing at the E Street Cinema tonight (where wine can also be sipped, how nice). This movie is sure to bring about some good post dinner conversation on the ills of our relationship with what we put on our plate. Ahh, the perfect combo, dinner, movie, and a dash of wholesome guilt about our consumerist society. Sounds like a great Tuesday night cheap date. Now, if only they would bring back those half-price Tuesday nights….
